नई दिल्ली नगरपालिका परिषद के उपाध्यक्ष श्री सतीश उपाध्याय ने आज सुबह नई दिल्ली के हाइफा तीन मूर्ति चौक पर भारत-इजरायल मैत्री मंच के सहयोग से एनडीएमसी द्वारा आयोजित "हाइफा विजय दिवस" कार्यक्रम के अवसर पर शहीदों को पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की।

सभा को संबोधित करते हुए, श्री उपाध्याय ने 23 सितंबर, 1918 को हुई हाइफ़ा की लड़ाई के दौरान भारत के शहीद नायकों की बहादुरी और वीरता पर जोर देते हुए उस दिन के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने बताया कि राजपूताना सेना का नेतृत्व मेजर दलपत सिंह ने किया था। जोधपुर रियासत ने इस ऐतिहासिक युद्ध में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।

श्री उपाध्याय ने विस्तार से बताया कि ब्रिटिश अधिकारियों ने जोधपुर, मैसूर और हैदराबाद की रियासतों की सेनाओं को हाइफ़ा पर कब्जा करने का काम सौंपा था। राजस्थानी रणबांकुरो की सेना ने घोड़े पर सवार होकर तलवार और भाले जैसे पारंपरिक हथियारों से लैस होकर साहसपूर्वक दुश्मन का सामना किया, जिसके पास आधुनिक बंदूकें और मशीनगनें थीं। बाधाओं के बावजूद, वे बहादुरी से लड़े, बंदूकों, तोपों और मशीनगनों के हमले के खिलाफ अपनी छाती खोलकर बहादुरी से आगे बढ़े। दुःख की बात यह है कि इस भीषण युद्ध में जोधपुर की सेना के लगभग नौ सौ सैनिक शहीद हो गये।

हाइफ़ा की लड़ाई के ऐतिहासिक महत्व पर प्रकाश डालते हुए, श्री उपाध्याय ने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि इसके परिणाम ने इतिहास में एक अमिट छाप छोड़ी है, जो दुनिया में कहीं भी बेजोड़ है। आख़िरकार, राठौड़ विजयी हुए, उन्होंने हाइफ़ा पर कब्ज़ा कर लिया और 400 साल पुराने ओटोमन साम्राज्य का अंत हो गया। इस निर्णायक युद्ध ने इजराइल की मुक्ति में भी योगदान दिया था।

श्री उपाध्याय ने कहा कि इस युद्ध का महत्व इतना गहरा था कि इन्हें आज भी इजरायली स्कूलों में पढ़ाया जाता है। इजराइल और भारत हर साल 23 सितंबर को इस ऐतिहासिक घटना को याद करते हुए अपने प्राणों की आहुति देने वाले भारतीय सैनिकों को श्रद्धांजलि देते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त, उन्होंने बताया कि 2018 में इज़राइल के प्रधानमंत्री श्री बेंजामिन नेतन्याहू की भारत यात्रा के दौरान, "भारत-इज़राइल मैत्री" को समर्पित तीन मूर्ति चौक का नाम बदलकर "तीन मूर्ति हाइफा चौक" रखा गया था।

इसके अलावा, श्री उपाध्याय ने जी20 के स्लोगन - "वसुधैव कुटुंबकम - एक पृथ्वी, एक परिवार, एक भविष्य" के अनुरूप एकता और सहयोग की वैश्विक भावना पर प्रकाश डाला और कहा कि यह प्रतीक हमारे साझा भविष्य की बेहतरी के लिए एक परिवार के रूप में एक साथ आने की राष्ट्रों की आकांक्षा को दर्शाता है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत की नीति है कि हम हमेशा दूसरे देशों की सीमाओं और संप्रभुता में विश्वास करते हैं और विस्तारवाद की नीति का विरोध करते हैं।

कार्यक्रम के दौरान, कई प्रतिष्ठित अतिथियों ने अपनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की, जिनमें जनरल वीके सिंह-पूर्व सेना जनरल और माननीय राज्य मंत्री सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय; लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल आर.एन. सिंह-फैंस के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष; श्री जसबीर सिंह-प्रशंसक के राष्ट्रीय महासचिव; श्री बाबू राम निषाद-सांसद राज्यसभा; फैंस के मार्गदर्शक-डॉ. इंद्रेश कुमार; श्री दिलीप घोष-सांसद लोकसभा मिदनापुर पश्चिम बंगाल; डॉ. राम बगई-FANS दिल्ली चैप्टर के उपाध्यक्ष; इस अवसर पर कार्यक्रम संयोजक और अन्य सदस्यों के साथ-साथ एनडीएमसी स्कूलों के स्कूली बच्चे भी शामिल हुए।

"Saluting the Sacrifice: Vice Chairman Commemorates Haifa Victory Day at Teen Murti Chowk"

Shri Satish Upadhyay, Vice-Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council paid floral tribute to martyrs on the occasion of the “Haifa Victory Day” programme organized by NDMC in collaboration with Indo-Israel Friendship Forum at Haifa Teen Murti Chowk, New Delhi today morning.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Upadhyay reflected on the significance of the day, emphasizing the bravery and valor of India's martyred heroes during the Battle of Haifa, which occurred on September 23, 1918. He recounted that the Rajputana army, led by Major Dalpat Singh of the princely state of Jodhpur, played a pivotal role in this historic battle.

 

Shri Upadhyay elaborated that the British authorities had tasked the armies of the princely states of Jodhpur, Mysore, and Hyderabad with capturing Haifa. The Rajasthani Ranbankuro's army, armed with traditional weaponry such as swords and spears on horseback, courageously confronted the enemy, which possessed modern guns and machine guns. Despite the odds, they valiantly fought, bravely advancing with their chests bared against the onslaught of guns, cannons, and machine guns. Tragically, around nine hundred soldiers of Jodhpur's army became martyrs during this fierce battle.

 

Highlighting the historical significance of the Battle of Haifa, Shri Upadhyay emphasized that its outcome had etched an indelible mark in history, unmatched anywhere in the world. Eventually, Rathod emerged victorious, capturing Haifa and marking the end of the 400-year-old Ottoman Empire. This decisive battle had also contributed to the liberation of Israel.

 

Shri Upadhyay said that the significance of these wars was so profound that they continue to be taught in Israeli schools to this day. Israel and India commemorate this historical event every year on September 23, paying tribute to the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Additionally, he informed that during Israel Prime Minister Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to India in 2018, the Teen Murti Chowk, dedicated to "India-Israel Friendship," was renamed as "Teen Murti Haifa Chowk."

Moreover, Shri Upadhyay highlighted the global spirit of unity and collaboration, resonating with the G20 slogan – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future”. This emblem encapsulates the aspiration of nations to come together as one family for the betterment of our shared future. He said that India's policy is that we always believe in the borders and sovereignty of other countries and we oppose the policy of expansionism.

 

During the event, several distinguished guests paid their tribute, including Gen. VK Singh, Former Army General and Hon’ble Minister of State – Ministry of Road Transport & Highways; Lt. Gen. R.N.
