Sharing comments of Sri Abhilash Barot sent to me yesterday after the webinar:
Thank you for inviting me to the webinar.  Please pass on my thoughts to the WhatsApp group,  the attendees,. and the guest speakers.

Today’s webinar truly was enlightening and I genuinely believe a larger population (both medical and non-medical) needs to be exposed and educated.  As a person who has lived for over 40 years in US, I do have some perspectives.

Executive summary.

- Nutritional transition – cause of several diseases.  I don’t think Dr.  Kaneria could have found a better term.

- Preventive medicine – The west has for many years embraced the importance of preventive medicine.  The Indian Medical Community, Health Insurance companies, and the government should be responsible and need to do a much better job to create awareness in the society.  This is a crucial need and a major change for the majority of the population in India.  The general perception is doctors will find problems that don’t exist and are getting commissions by sending patients to labs.  Dr. Nawal Anand did make a good point in the closing statements.

- It was truly an eye opener to understand the socio-economic impact due to heart disease at an early age

Note:  Why people are afraid of doctors and what can be done?  For the most part, patients in the west are NOT afraid of doctors.  Why in India?  For now, I don’t want to elaborate more on the topic on what doctors can do to bridge this gap between doctors, patients, and patient family.  Many doctors too need to embrace change when it comes to demeanor.  I do have to admit – based on my experience, most doctors are Bhailal Amin are excellent when it comes to patient and patient family interactions.  This “most” certainly has room to covert to ALL.  I did briefly interact with Dr.  Kaneria when pappa was at BAG and truly liked his demeanor and compassion.  In addition, a better job in educating patients on Preventive Medicine is crucial.  Dr. Rai’s comments too touched on the topic.

Change always comes from the Top.  I am very confident that you all as a group can help make this change happen and generate awareness within your own organization.

Mr.Prafull D. Sheth VP -PSAIIF said ,"The above comments are very real and some Doctors of Indian origin settled abroad do mention some practices prevalent here which scares and squeeze patients.
Bold opinion by non medico gentleman,"  He further added other comments from yogendra Ghoghari and Dr DBA Narayana respectively to the RJS PBH -PSAIIF Sunday webinar on 01st October 2024 ," There has been discussion in last few years about " Trust defecit in Doctors and medical profession in general". Also there is greater movement of illness centric to wellness centric health care. Nutrition and Dietetics are becoming central,"
