Dr Madan Kataria,Laughter Yoga Founder's 69th Birthday Celebration Marks the announcement of RJS's 'Positive Decade' with Overseas Indians.

The 304th program of the Ram Janaki Sansthan Positive Broadcasting House (RJS PBH) served as a dual celebration, honoring Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga International, on his 69th birthday and marking the beginning of RJS PBH's 'Positive Decade' initiative. This ambitious initiative, aimed at fostering global positivity, will be officially launched on January 15, 2025, in collaboration with overseas Indians.

The event, held on December 31, 2024, commenced with a poetic introduction by Uday Kumar Manna, the national coordinator and founder of RJS PBH. He emphasized the significance of the day, coinciding with the year's end, as a moment for reflection, renewal, and positive resolutions. RJS PBH, he explained, is an organization dedicated to promoting positive thinking and well-being through various media platforms, including newsletters, YouTube channels, and books. Manna announced the 'Positive Decade' initiative, a long-term project aimed at spreading positivity worldwide. He described it as a movement to encourage positive thinking, actions, and attitudes, starting with an Overseas Indian Media Conference in New Delhi on January 15, 2025. The conference will involve 'Overseas Indians,' or Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), individuals of Indian origin residing outside India, signifying the global reach of the initiative.

The program's central focus was the celebration of Dr. Madan Kataria's 69th birthday. Manna lauded Dr. Kataria's pioneering work in establishing Laughter Yoga, which began in a Mumbai park in March 1995 with only five participants. Today, Laughter Yoga has blossomed into a global phenomenon, practiced in over 120 countries, a testament to its effectiveness and universal appeal.

Satendra Tyagi and Suman Tyagi, co-organizers of the event and Positive Ambassadors of the RJS family, extended their heartfelt greetings to Dr. Kataria. They highlighted RJS PBH's efforts in promoting Laughter Yoga through webinars, seminars, and publications. "We firmly believe that laughter is a universal language capable of uniting people and fostering peace," Satendra Tyagi affirmed. They reiterated the core message, "Be positive and do laughter yoga," sharing anecdotes of their experiences in promoting Laughter Yoga in schools and hospitals. They added, "Those whose actions are alive, their fun is alive, Laugh away disease, do laughter yoga."

Dr. Kataria, in his address, expressed gratitude for the birthday celebration and the recognition from RJS Positive Media. He recounted the genesis of Laughter Yoga, inspired by scientific research on laughter's health benefits. He articulated that Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise form that marries laughter with yogic breathing techniques, offering a plethora of physical and mental health advantages. "Laughter Yoga transcends mere laughter; it's about cultivating a positive mindset," Dr. Kataria explained. He stressed its accessibility to everyone, irrespective of age or physical condition, and underscored the scientific backing of laughter's benefits, including stress reduction, mood elevation, and immunity enhancement. "When we laugh, our body releases endorphins, which have mood-boosting and pain-relieving effects," he noted. He also introduced the idea of "laughter as a form of exercise," practicable even without an apparent reason to laugh. Further he added, "Laughter Yoga is a combination of laughter exercises and yogic breathing (pranayama). This brings more oxygen to our body and brain, which makes us feel more energetic and healthy."

Dr. Kataria elaborated on the science behind Laughter Yoga, particularly its impact on the immune system. He described how deep breathing during laughter exercises expels stale air from the lungs, facilitating fresh oxygen intake. He simplified the explanation of the lymphatic system, a crucial component of the immune system, stating that it relies on deep breathing and movement for fluid circulation, unlike the heart, which has a pump. "Deep laughter creates a vacuum effect in the chest, aiding the lymphatic fluid's movement into the bloodstream, thereby boosting immunity," Dr. Kataria elucidated. He shared his personal experience of rarely falling ill in nearly 30 years of daily Laughter Yoga practice, attributing it to the immunity-enhancing effects.

Kuldeep Rai, a Laughter Ambassador, shared his experiences in promoting Laughter Yoga, emphasizing its role in disseminating positivity and happiness. "Laughter is infectious and possesses the power to transform both individuals and communities," he remarked. He highlighted the upcoming Overseas Indian Confluence on January 15, 2025, where RJS PBH will join forces with NRIs to promote the 'Positive Decade' initiative.

Sweety Paul, a participant, shared her insights on the importance of truth, devotion, and positive thinking. "We must always endeavor to follow the path of truth and righteousness," she emphasized. She addressed the challenges of maintaining a positive outlook in the contemporary world and stressed the need for self-motivation and inner resilience. She also underscored laughter's role in fostering positivity and well-being. "Remember, every human being is valuable, and sorrow empowers us to progress," she added.

Ishaq Khan, another participant, conducted a simple laughter exercise demonstration, illustrating how laughter can alter one's mood and foster positive thinking. "Even a few minutes of laughter can significantly impact our feelings," he stated. He expounded on the concept of "laughter for no reason," a practice to enhance mental and emotional well-being. He guided the participants through a laughter exercise, encouraging them to begin with forced laughter and allow it to evolve into genuine mirth.

The 304th program of RJS PBH was a resounding success, celebrating Dr. Madan Kataria's life and work while heralding the launch of the 'Positive Decade' initiative. This initiative, through the promotion of Laughter Yoga and positive thinking, aims to create a more positive and harmonious world. The collaboration with overseas Indians on January 15, 2025, marks the first major step in this global endeavor. The program underscored the importance of laughter, positivity, and well-being, showcasing the collective efforts of individuals and organizations towards a brighter future. The event also served as a reminder that even small actions, like a simple laugh, can have a profound impact on our own lives and the lives of those around us.Participants of the program - Uday Kumar Manna, Dr. Madan Kataria,Deep Mathur.
