NEW DELHI -- Ahead of the impending monsoon season, the Ram Janaki Sansthan Positive Broadcasting House and RJS PBH organized its 580th national webinar to address one of the most persistent challenges faced by Indian households and the real estate sector: structural water leakage and dampness. Hosted by Uday Kumar Manna, the session brought together industry experts, engineers, and citizens to discuss modern waterproofing technologies, exposing the severe economic and structural consequences of traditional construction negligence.Uday Shankar Singh Kushwaha, the newly appointed Hon. In-charge of the RJS Positive Branch in Noida and head of Water Seal waterproofing company, reiterated his commitment to expanding these positive social initiatives across the National Capital Region.

The webinar, held on the sacrifice day of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and during the traditional Adra Nakshatra period.
Dr. Arvind Saini, Vice President and Business Head of the Mahafix Division at Nikhil Adhesives Limited, revealed that the Indian waterproofing and construction chemical market has ballooned into a 35,000 crore industry.
This staggering figure highlights both the massive scale of infrastructure development in the country and the widespread failure of older, conventional building practices to protect these investments from water damage.

Dr. Saini detailed the evolution of waterproofing from primitive methods to advanced chemical engineering. He explained that Nikhil Adhesives, a publicly listed company supplying raw materials to major paint and polymer brands since 1992, launched the Mahafix division to directly address these systemic gaps. For basements, which face immense hydrostatic pressure, traditional cement grouting often fails against active leaks. Dr. Saini introduced Polyurethane (PU) injection grouting, a technology where a specialized chemical reacts with water within seconds to form an expanding foam, instantly sealing active leaks from the inside out. This is followed by fast-setting plugging compounds like Rhino Plug and multiple layers of crystalline coatings that integrate with the concrete itself.

The discussion also waded into a controversial debate regarding construction practices in India. Er. Ajay Kumar Verma, Chairman of the Kushwaha Abhiyanta Forum in Patna and the Chief Guest of the event, sharply criticized the lack of proper inspection and accountability during residential construction. He pointed out that while multi-story corporate buildings often employ strict waterproofing protocols, smaller residential projects suffer immensely due to contractor negligence. Er. Verma highlighted that poor tile joint filling in bathrooms is the root cause of dampness that destroys adjacent bedroom walls. He noted that the old practice of using brickbat coba is now largely obsolete, yet many local builders fail to adopt modern chemical solutions like epoxy grouts and two-component polymer coatings, leaving homeowners to pay the ultimate price. Secretary General of Kushwaha Abhiyanta Forum Er. Ram Daras Singh also addressed the webinar.

This architectural negligence has severe social and economic implications, as middle-class families often find their life savings invested in homes that begin deteriorating within two years of construction. The webinar provided a direct platform for citizens to voice these exact frustrations during a highly interactive question and answer session.

Sweety Paul, a participant, raised the issue of maintaining older houses and terrace gardens, noting that local repairmen often refuse to take the risk of fixing deeply rooted seepage. Dr. Saini advised that such scenarios require expert inspection to remove compromised concrete, the use of fiber-reinforced repair mortars, and the application of anti-root elastomeric coatings like Blackshield 706, which boasts up to 1000 percent elasticity to bridge thermal expansion cracks.

Another participant, Gopal Singh, asked about the common issue of water leaking from an upper-floor Indian-style toilet to the ceiling below. Dr. Saini provided a systematic troubleshooting guide, starting with pipeline integrity checks, followed by chemical tile-joint fillers, and ultimately suggesting PU injection grouting from the lower ceiling if the capillaries within the slab are deeply compromised. Furthermore, when R.S. Kushwaha inquired about the structural menace of Peepal tree saplings taking root in old walls, the experts recommended complete uprooting followed by specialized polymer mortar sealing and exterior anti-carbonation wall coats to permanently halt regrowth.

Beyond the technical masterclass, the event highlighted significant social milestones. Er. Verma shared the philanthropic journey of the Kushwaha Abhiyanta Forum, inspired by the late Er. Ram Jag Singh. The forum not only built a four-story corporate building through community funding but currently provides scholarships to 40 economically disadvantaged engineering students annually, organizes community marriages, and offers free educational consultancy for rural youth. Uday Shankar Singh Kushwaha, the newly appointed In-charge of the RJS Positive Branch in Noida and head of Water Seal waterproofing company, reiterated his commitment to expanding these positive social initiatives across the National Capital Region.

Looking to the future, Uday Kumar Manna announced a series of high-profile events as part of the Ram Janaki Sansthan Positive Broadcasting House mission to sustain positive media movements until 2047. Upcoming initiatives include a global webinar on the Golden Contribution of Indian Culture featuring UK-based Nitin Mehta and ICCR officials, the physical inauguration of the Noida RJS Positive Branch on June 28, and a special session honoring the 649th birth anniversary of Sadguru Kabir Das on June 29. Furthermore, a comprehensive 200-page RJS PBH book documenting 85 positive media programs is slated for release on August 7 at the Delhi Metropolitan Education auditorium in Noida.

The webinar concluded with a consensus that building a resilient nation requires both physical structural integrity through modern engineering and moral structural integrity through positive, solution-oriented journalism.
