The 37th RJS webinar of the elixir of freedom concludes with a discussion on consumer-Know your rights.

 New Delhi.  Why is the consumer neglected today despite the revised Consumer Protection Act coming in India in 2019 and coming into force from 2020 ?  In the 37th RJS webinar on the topic “Consumer – Know Your Rights”, the invited speakers Professor Bijon Misra, Ashwini Rana, Dr. AK Merchant and Naveen Prakash Sharma had an in-depth discussion with the RJS family from across the country.

 RJS National Convenor and webinar moderator Uday Kumar Manna said that it was organized in collaboration with Consumer Online Foundation, Ram Janaki Sansthan (RJS), New Delhi and Tapsil Jati Adivasi Prakatan Sainik Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra (TJAPS KBSK), Guntegiri, Dhaniyakhali, West Bengal on the occasion of National Consumer Day Celebration 2021.

 Professor Bijon Misra, Founder Director of Consumer Online Foundation, in his presidential address said that in consumer courts

 Pointing to the lack of committed people and said that this includes people associated with the consumer mission.

 He praised the new Consumer Protection Act enacted by the government in 2019, which strengthened this consumer movement.  Slowly consumers are becoming aware and now voice has started rising on misleading advertisements, that is why even brand ambassadors like MS Dhoni and Amitabh Bachchan had to move away from misleading advertisements.

 The chief guest at the webinar, Ashwini Rana, Founder, Voice of Banking said,

 Bank depositors also need a special insurance policy for deposit insurance for deposits of more than 5 lakhs.  he suggested that

 The interest rates on deposits in banks should not be reduced to prevent the customers of banks from investing in wrong places in the greed of more income.

 Apart from this, he emphasized the need for a unified grievance portal for the customers of banks to register complaints.

 National President of Consumer Rights Organization Naveen Prakash Sharma said that the government should strengthen consumer authority and consumer courts.  With this, an environment can be created in favor of the consumers. Consumers are equally misled about the cashless policy, which is not right.  Regarding adulterated mafia earning more than profit, he said that they are no less than a terrorist.  Describing the essential need of the consumers to collect bills while making purchases, he said that there is a need to launch a huge movement for the consumers.

 A special Q&A session was held in which Speakers gave meaningful solutions to the questions of Sudip Sahu, Dr. Narendra Tatesar, Renu Srivastava, Dr. RK Gupta, Ishaq Khan,Ashique Ali etc
