 A symposium on Right to Repair was successfully organized in conjunction with RJS PBH founder and national convenor Uday Kumar Manna.  

Editor and Publisher of The Aware Consumer, Prof.  Bejon Kumar Misra ji conducted the program and said that boycotting wrong products is the Brahmastra of consumers.  He proposed to celebrate Medical Device Quality Day on 22 October. 

 Consumer Online Foundation Chairman Prafull D. Sheth and Ranjan Ben from Baroda participated in the program.  Prafull Bhai welcomed everyone with the introduction of the topic and said that after doing the 150th national program of Amrit Kaal's Positive India in Delhi, now the 178th program is being organized and every Sunday RJS webinar will continue till 2047.

 Whereas Former Director of MCD, Deepchand Mathur expressed his gratitude and said that RJS PBH is continuously promoting positive journalism through positive media dialogues in addition to webinars for awareness.

 The campaign is the need of the hour.  Therefore, the webinar of Vijayadashami on 24th Oct.and National Unity Day on 29th October will be held from 11 am, then the RJS PBH team will visit Aravali Biodiversity Park and hold a positive media dialogue.

Honorary Secretary of Consumer Guidance Society of India, Dr. M.S.  Kamath, a physician and advocate, joined from Mumbai and stressed the need for a Right to Repair law in detail.  He has drafted and sent the Right to Repair Bill to the Government of India, it may take time but there are chances of it becoming a law.  He said that we all are consumers and we are considered God while purchasing goods but when we go to the shop from where we bought the goods for repair or when it gets damaged, we are seen as a burden.  There are many problems in our repairs, most of the problems are due to non-availability of parts.  There is a provision in the Right to Repair Bill to make spare parts easily available to companies for seven years from the sale of the final product.  He said that most people will experience that repairs are more expensive than those that are not repaired.

The customer is forced to buy new goods and the defective goods also cause harm to the environment in the form of junk.  The students of Praveen Gandhi Law College and the faculty and students of Kohinoor Business School and Kohinoor Management School have been especially helpful in drafting this bill.  Dr.V.S.  Kamath said that like in foreign countries, licensed repair kits should also be provided to the consumers, so that the customers can do the repairs themselves.  In India, when you go for repair, the service center tries to blame the customer.  The customer is confused about guarantee and warranty.  There is no intention to replace the product with a new one.  Foreign companies have a different policy for repair and replacement of goods in their own country and different in India. 

 In the programme, Mathai ji is a consumer activist from Kerala.  Atulya Sinha, who works in quality promotion and is associated with South Eastern Railway, asked the question.  Rajeev Nath works on the quality of medical devices so that quality medical devices are made and sold.

 Dr. A K Merchant, Dr. Munni Kumari, Ishaq Khan, Satyend Tyagi and Suman Tyagi, Ashish Anand, Durga Das Azad etc. made the program successful.
