On the occasion of Van Mahotsav 2024(1-7 July) Positive Media Dialogue was organised
on 30 June on "Humanity's Efforts to Remedy the Serious Damage Inflicted by Humans on Earth's Biosphere" #rjspbh.
Welcoming the scientist, Shri Ashok Kumar Malik put spotlight on the crisis of severely disturbed biosphere and wished Dr.Hussain to give his views on the present status of biosphere in the country and the world, whereupon the scientist gave the historical perspective of how in course of time humanity has come to face biodiversity loss.
Shri Ashok Kumar Malik placed in the perspective of geologic time the great resilience of biosphere since the emergence of life and how humans, with their hubris, have come to feel themselves somehow separate from Nature. The poet emphasised that humans need to remember that they are an inseparable part of the planet's biosphere. The dialogue concluded on the positive note that much good work is being done to save biodiversity and to address the crisis of global warming. The poet gave the message that just as there are hydrological and other cycles in the natural world, humanity needs to adopt circular economy.
